Why Does My Beard Itch?

There are unfortunately many times when a bastard may ask themselves why they have such an itchy damn beard. Beard itch can have many causes including poor hygiene, dry skin, ingrown hairs, acne breakouts and excessive grooming of the beards using soaps and other products, which can irritate the skin. Sometimes beard itch can even be a sign of a much deeper issue, such as a fungal or bacterial infection.

We wanted to offer you some tips that can help you avoid running into this pesky issue.

Cleansing: Good hygiene is essential to having a healthy, strong beard and to avoid irritable things such as beard itch. This can be as simple as cleansing your beard with a natural beard wash or brushing it out with warm water when you’re in the shower.

Moisturizing: Any beardsman should have a go-to beard oil that they use on a daily basis. Using a beard oil daily is going to keep your beard moisturized, allowing it to soften and aid in keeping beard itch at bay. You want to be sure to massage the beard oil from the ends of your beard, deep into the skin.

Brushing: Brushing the beard allows it to have a smooth texture and also helps to distribute any beard oil throughout your beard. This also massages the hair follicles as you brush, helping to prevent ingrown hairs and itching.

Trimming: Keeping your beard trimmed allows for a neat beard that is itch free. Finding high-grade clippers that have adjustable settings will allow you to grow and trim your beard to any length and shape you please. You can also grab a pair of beard scissors to hand pick any outlying hairs and easily trim your mustache. If you do find that you have an ingrown hair, you can pluck it gently with a pair of tweezers if you feel it’s necessary.

Stay Healthy: Ultimately, beard health starts from within. If you want healthy skin and a healthy looking beard, you should be employing a healthy diet and lifestyle in order to make that happen. Staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet that’s rich in Vitamin D, Biotin, and healthy fats will aid in overall beard health.
